Case Study- Impact Family Wellness

Impact Family Wellness is a direct primary care office in Cedar Park, TX, who also recently expanded to Liberty Hill. Their technology needs weren’t horribly complex, yet uptime and efficiency were paramount to their success. In order to achieve this, they needed a solid network, access to cloud based applications, stable email and office tools, and a secure network with a solid overall security posture. Here is what we did with them…

Innojacent

Network:

Using Ubiquiti networking gear, a multi location network was created. Each location consists of a security appliance (NGFW/IPS), wireless coverage, and switching infrastructure. Ubiquiti was chosen because of its cloud based management support along with its cost effective price point. As a small business, it was important to be value based, while not affecting availability.

Where possible, wired network connectivity was used. This was especially true with their hosted VoIP infrastructure as it was found to be much more reliable when hardwired. It was also found to provide a much better user experience when printing hardwired, as well.

The Rack isn’t very pretty, but we re-used an existing one so it was a bit messy. VPN connectivity between locations was enabled as well as client based VPN.

Office Software/Email:

At Innojacent, we believe in simplicity! Although Google has a very compelling business offering, Microsoft was selected to both host IFW’s email and also provide their office productivity software. The cloud based Office suite was selected for both cost and flexibility. Microsoft 365 also provides cloud based file storage, which is utilized at IFW.

Security:

We won’t document all of this, but a combination of anti-malware, NGFW/IPS, and good password practices make up the core of their security stack. Furthermore, MFA is leveraged anytime possible with hardware based tokens as the preferred method.

Backups:

As a Mac based practice, Innojacent created a Time Machine server to provide frequent backups of all staff systems. This backup solution is nearly transparent to the end users and provides piece of mind for any hardware failures.

Physical Security:

Ring is our preferred solution for physical security, providing alarms, motion detection, and surveillance. It provides a whole platform for physical security solutions that we leverage for IFW.

Conclusion:

Building the technology stack for a small business is truly a passion of mine. Although, I have documented much of what Innojacent did for IFW’s technology needs, I certainly have not documented all of it.
